Hello, we are Box Farm Labs!

A TEAM OF ENGINEERS
We are a team of multidisciplinary Mechanical Engineers from Hawai'i with a passion for innovation. With backgrounds in developing aerospace life support systems, we are excited to bring our state of the art technology into our communities.
OUR PASSION
We love good food. This includes breakfast foods, burgers and plate lunch. We realized the one thing common to all of these foods is high quality ingredients, most importantly fresh, delicious produce.

So we set out on a mission to bring these fresh leafy green goods that we enjoy so much to astronauts. We proposed an automated lettuce production device called Box Farm for our Engineering Senior Design project.

BXL AS A STUDENT PROJECT
We invented Box Farm's unique configuration, put a team together and got to work designing, building at testing the system throughout the course of the senior year. Making innovations in hydroponics, robotics and AI, Box Farm was ready to integrate effortlessly into greenhouse module of the Inflatable Lunar Mars Habitat (ILMH) at the University of North Dakota by the end of the schoolyear. As a result of these innovations, the Box Farm project won the 1st Place prize at the Francis J Rhodes Montgomery Innovation competition at the University of Hawaii.
BXL TODAY
We are excited to be commercializing our technologies and transitioning them for use in our homes and communities. Working closely with community members and Hawaii organizations, we are seeking to solve some of the food security crises facing our state today, by enabling food production on the single home and micro-community level.
